If you have searched for Cazadores, you have probably seen the bottle: clear glass, with a stag on the label. It is one of the most familiar tequilas on our shelf, and one of the easiest to find at a fair price. Here is what to know before you buy.
Who Makes Cazadores?
Cazadores is made in Arandas, a town in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. That region is known for sweeter, fruitier agave, and like all tequila it is made from blue agave. The name is simply Spanish for "hunters," which is why a stag sits on every bottle.
Blanco vs. Reposado
You will see two main styles in our store: Blanco and Reposado. Here is the simple difference.
- Blanco: Unaged, or rested only very briefly. It tastes bright and peppery and puts the agave up front. This is the one for margaritas and palomas.
- Reposado: Rested in oak for at least two months and less than a year. The wood rounds it out and adds a little vanilla and caramel. It works on the rocks or in a margarita if you like a softer one.

Which One Should You Buy?
For margaritas, start with the Blanco. The bright agave flavor stands up to lime and orange liqueur. If you want one bottle for everything, get the Reposado. It mixes well and is still pleasant on its own over ice. Hosting a crowd? The 1.75 liter Reposado is the best value per pour we carry in this brand. Not sure yet? Buy a 375ml of each and taste them side by side at home.
The Pineapple Version
We also carry Cazadores Pineapple Tequila, 750ml, at $21.99 in store. The brand calls it pineapple-infused tequila. It is easy to mix with soda water or juice when you want a simple drink without building a cocktail.
