Weller, Blanton's, Eagle Rare and the rest - real bottles, real prices, no lottery

Bourbon hunting has turned into a strange hobby. People drive an hour on a rumour, join a list, enter a draw, and mostly go home with nothing. Rather than write another post about how hard these bottles are to find, here is the boring version: this is what is on our shelf, this is what it costs, and every name below links to the page that will tell you whether it is still there.

We are at 6731 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Doraville, just inside I-285. That is about twenty minutes from Buckhead, twenty-five from Decatur, and under fifteen from Norcross or Dunwoody. Distance matters here in a way it does not for anything else a bottle shop sells, because allocated bourbon is the one category people genuinely will drive for.

The Weller shelf

Weller is the wheated bourbon that sends people around the metro on Saturdays. Wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain in the mash bill, which is the same decision made at the distillery behind the bottles everybody queues for, and it is why the flavour reads softer and rounder. Worth saying plainly: Weller Special Reserve is $32.99 here, and we are holding it deep. This is not a one-bottle-behind-the-counter situation and you do not need to know anyone. If Special Reserve is the bottle you have been driving around for, the driving is over.

How to read these prices

Blanton's is $98.99 and Eagle Rare 10 is $65.99. Those sit above what the back label suggests, and we are not going to pretend otherwise - that is the secondary market these bottles live in, and every shop in the metro is standing in the same one. What we will not do is make you enter a draw, buy three bottles of something else first, or join a list to find out what we have. The price is on the shelf, the bottle is on the shelf, and the links above tell you whether it still is.

Before you drive

The single-bottle items genuinely do sell in an afternoon, and this post will be wrong about some of them within a week.
